At a recent meeting, the Grant County Quorum Court voted to set aside funds to match a grant which the county is applying for to make improvements to the airport.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, County Treasurer Tim Stuckey presented the idea of applying for the grant to build a new aircraft hanger.

The hanger would have four bays and generate about $5,000 in annual revenue for the county by leasing those bays out.

Stuckey told the court that the waiting list for aircraft hanger bays fluctuates but he was confident the newly constructed bays could be filled quickly.

Also discussed was the prospect of extending the runway to allow larger planes to land.

The newspaper reported that traffic at the airport comes from private owners as well as corporate travelers and others.
