Among the kinds of cases that the winner of the race for Third Division Circuit Judge will have to handle are divorce cases, many involving children.

Mac Norton, a native of Pine Bluff and Therese Free, who was raised in Gould in Lincoln County survived a three-person primary in March to make the runoff, which will take place as a part of the November General Election. The winner will replace retiring Circuit Judge Bill Benton.

On Oldies 101.3 Monday morning, each talked about those cases, and the perception that women automatically get the benefit of the doubt. First Norton and then Free:

Norton has been an attorney for 42 years after graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Law School. Free has been an attorney for 20 years, having enrolled in Law School at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock after her two children left for college.

Each was also asked what they would say to voters who are still on the fence about which candidate to choose. First Free and then Norton.

Because of COVID-19, both candidates admitted that the current court dockets are way behind and each was asked what they would do, if elected, to try and reduce that backlog. First Free and then Norton)
