Five Razorbacks Named to the ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region Teams

Five student-athletes from the Razorback’s baseball squad were named to the 2020-21 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings South All-Region teams. Kevin Kopps was a first team selection, while Brady Slavens, Robert Moore, Jalen Battles, and Patrick Wicklander were named to the second team.

Kopps, the SEC Pitcher of the Year and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year, posted a 12-1 record and was named a finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award. He is also a finalist for the College Baseball Foundation’s National Pitcher of the Year Award as well as the NCBWA’s Stopper of the Year Award.

Wicklander emerged as the Hogs #1 starter and finished the season 7-1 after beginning the season as a reliever. He posted a 2.09 ERA with 85 strike outs in 77 2/3 innings of work, while holding opposing batters to a .226 average.

Slavens hit .284 with 14 homers and lead Arkansas with 63 RBI’s posting a .347 OBP. The Hogs first baseman also finished the season with a .560 slugging percentage and third on the team in hits with 62.

Moore lead the team in home runs this past season with 16 with a .558 slugging percentage. The second baseman batted .283 on the year, and drove in 53 runs while posting a .384 on base percentage and lead the squad with 59 runs scored.

Battles, the SEC Tournament MVP, hit for a .269 batting average with six home runs and 43 RBI’s. The sure-handed shortstop had .956 fielding percentage and played in all 61 games for the Diamond Hogs this season.

The Razorbacks season ended with a 3-2 loss to NC State in the Fayetteville Super Regional at Baum-Walker Stadium.
