A security officer at the Saracen Casino and Resort was shot Thursday night and police are seeking five male suspects in connection with the incident which happened just after 11 p.m.

The casino’s Carlton Saffa told Deltaplex News what happened.

Saffa said the security officer was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen which will not require surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspects were identified as Tirek Langel, 22, Kuro’n Brown, 21, Brandon Burnett, 27, Joshua McAfee. 27, and Dontarius Slater, 26. Their identities were provided by casino security and Police Chief Kelvin Sergeant said security video is adding in the investigation.

Sergeant said Friday morning that none of the suspects had been taken into custody but several were known to police.

Saffa said the incident was not a “shootout.”

Chief Sergeant said an investigation is continuing and anyone with information on the location of the suspects should contact the Detective Division at 730-2090.
