Emergency medical responses accounted for more than half the calls Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Response personnel answered in July, according to figures released by the department.

The report showed firefighters answered 293 emergency medical calls or 51.13 percent of the 573 total calls for the month. That figure was 39 more than for the month of June.

There were a total of four structure fires in July, two each in Ward 3 and Ward 4, and 12 reported vehicle fires. A total of 36 brush, grass and rubbish fires were reported during the month.

Firefighters responded to 30 vehicle accident with injury calls, nine more than in June, and to nine fire alarms. Another 62 alarms were listed as false alarms.

There were 127 calls classified as other.
