A Dumas woman was killed Tuesday after the vehicle she was driving struck the back of a tractor in rural Lincoln County.
Shavie Ward, 28, was northbound on U.S. Highway 65, north of Arkansas Highway 388 at 8:21 a.m. and a 2014 John Deere Tractor was in front of her in the right-hand lane and on the shoulder of the roadway. As she approached the tractor, Ward’s vehicle hit the rear of the tractor and after impact, her vehicle went off the roadway where it came to rest.
Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death was the 113th recorded so far this year on the state’s highways.
