Like other school districts in Arkansas, the White Hall School District is concerned about the security of students and faculty members and according to Superintendent Doug Dorris, when a report of a possible gun at a school in the Watson Chapel School District Wednesday, White Hall schools took action immediately.

Asked by Deltaplex News if he and others at White Hall knew that there had been a shooting at Watson Chapel Junior High last week, Dorris said they did and locked down campuses until the suspect was taken into custody.

Unlike the Watson Chapel School District, Dorris said White Hall schools have a resource officer at every campus.

In addition to the resource officers, Dorris said a K-9 is also used.

Dorris said the district has looked at the idea of metal detectors on the campuses but decided against them.
