During a meeting of the Pine Bluff City Council on Monday night, Council Member Ivan Whitfield brought up a letter signed by a number of prominent people in the city who support the Mayor and the Go Forward initiative and are trying to raise money to get the four council members who oppose Go Forward beaten at the polls this year.
Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Tuesday, Council Member Joni Alexander, who has been a supporter of the Go Forward initiative was asked what Whitfield’s point was in bringing up the letter.
Morning show host Greg Horne told Alexander that there was nothing wrong with a group banding together to try and beat the council members who oppose Go Forward, and Alexander responded this way.
Alexander used the words “my community” and she was asked, “Who is your community?”
She went on to say that just as she has the right to vote for things, the four opponents of going forward have the right to vote no.
