The City Council at Star City voted Monday to permit Mayor Paul Carter to apply for a grant to build the Food Pantry and to ask for help from the Southeast Arkansas Economic Development District with the application and administering the money once it is obtained.
According to the Lincoln Ledger newspaper, Councilman David McCoy reported that the storm siren system is now fully operational at the Star City Police Department and that there is work to be done on the siren at Industrial Drive.
McCoy said the siren should be fixed within a week and also reminded council members that the system will be tested weekly on Wednesday at noon.
The newspaper reported that Carter said Ford Street and Maddox Street have both been paved and the city anticipates more recue funds to be available which can be used on other projects.
