There have been nine homicides reported so far this year and Pine Bluff Police Chief Lloyd Franklin Sr., said Wednesday suspects have been identified in seven of them, and officers are close to solving an eighth.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show, Franklin said five other homicides which occurred before he was named Chief can pretty much be closed but the suspects in those cases have since been the victim of another homicide.

Franklin went on to say that each shooting that has occurred recently has pretty much related to other shootings.

On another subject, Franklin was asked about reported plans to relocate Pine Bluff High School and if he had contact with Superintendent Barbara Warren to hear her concerns about security.

Franklin said his plan is to have Pine Bluff Police Officers take a secondary role when they are called to campuses at Pine Bluff, Dollarway, or Watson Chapel because those districts will have commissioned officers there.
