Two former Dermott Police officers have been charged with bribery or tampering with physical evidence.
According to the McGehee Dermott Times-News, Lee Van Brown, 55, is charged with one count of bribery, a Class B felony. His brother, Lee Edward Brown, 49, is charged with one count of tampering with evidence, a Class D felony.
Charges were filed against the two in Chicot County Circuit Court and followed an investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
The newspaper reported that the state police investigation began after another former Dermott officer claimed that the brothers had tampered with physical evidence twice, in two separate cases.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear in Chicot County Circuit Court on June 14.
