Fort Smith police are investigating after guns were stolen from an officer’s personal vehicle last week.
Police said a man stole a semiautomatic rifle, a 9mm handgun, a tactical bag and the officer’s badge from the vehicle about 10:40 p.m. Friday, the Fort Smith TV station reported. The vehicle was parked at a Courtyard by Marriott hotel downtown on Rogers Avenue.
The thief is reportedly described as white or Hispanic. He may have been wearing a red jacket and may have been seen leaving the area in a white passenger car.
Police declined to release the officer’s name. The department said an internal review is ongoing.
