On Tuesday, the House passed HB1022. This bill states drivers must have their vehicle’s headlights on from sunrise to sunset. The current law states lights must be on from ½ hour after sunset to ½ hour before sunrise.

The House also passed HB1112. This bill eliminates the option for individuals to complete a sworn statement in order to cast a provisional ballot if they did not have the required photo identification.

The House passed HB1197. This bill limits a law-enforcement agency to two part-time officers for every full-time officer. The recommendation for this bill came from the Governor’s Task Force to Advance the State of Law Enforcement in Arkansas. The task force report noted that the higher ratio of full-time officers will strengthen in-house training and enhance stability.

The House passed HB1124. This increases the amount of the hazard mitigation fund by $3 million. Cities and counties are eligible to use this fund to take critical mitigation measures to reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future disasters during the reconstruction process following a disaster.

The House will reconvene on Wednesday at 1 pm.
