The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management reported Saturday morning that one person had died in an apartment fire in Lonoke.
The department said the fire happened in the 200 block of East 5th Street, just east of Arkansas 31. The Carlisle and South Bend fire departments also responded to the blaze.
Department of Emergency Management spokesman Dan Noble said multiple injuries were reported. He said at least eight units in the apartment building were destroyed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
An investigation is ongoing.
