For the second time in two days, a deadly housefire has claimed the life of a person in Pine Bluff.

According to a press release from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, firefighters responded to a reported fire at 3307 W. 4th Ave., at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday night and when they arrived, encountered heavy smoke and fire.

Upon entering the house, firefighters found the victim in the center room of the residence and that person was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for positive identification and an official cause of death.

The cause of that fire is under investigation.

On Tuesday, a three-year-old child died at Jefferson Regional Hospital after a house fire in central Pine Bluff. That fire was said to have been caused by an open flame from a space heater.
