A Jefferson County man was arrested Thursday after allegedly pointing a gun at a relative during an altercation in Altheimer.

Leslie Manuel was taken into custody after deputies responded to a disturbance Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff’s Investigators report Manuel and his nephew became involved in a verbal altercation outside the residence. Manuel was reportedly holding a sawed-off shotgun and appeared to jack a round into the chamber before threatening to kill the nephew.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $15,000 bond for Manuel after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault on a family or household member and terroristic threatening.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Feb. 9.
