Work on improving the taxiway at the Sheridan Municipal Airport which has been delayed for more than two years is expected to be completed in the next few months, according to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper.

The paper reported that Grant County was awarded a grant for the project in October 2019 and construction was due to start in 2020 but was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Work crews were able to bring in equipment in August 2020, but heavy rains delayed construction again.

The $1.4 million project was made possible after Grant County received two grants from the Federal Aviation Administration that will cover 90 percent of the total cost. The Arkansas Department of Aeronautics will pay the remaining 10 percent.
