A Mississippi man was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident near Altheimer Tuesday.
According to a preliminary report, Dawson Lawler, 22, of Lumberton, Miss., was southbound on Arkansas Highway 88 north of Rob Roy Road when the 2021 Ford he was driving crossed the center line and hit a 2016 Ford driven by Eubi Osorio, 22, of Altheimer head-on. After impact, the vehicle driven by Dawson left the roadway to the west and overturned on its passenger side.
Dawson was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he late died.
Osorio and a juvenile who was in her car were also taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The accident was reported at 8:47 a.m. and according to the report, it was foggy and the highway was wet at the time.
The death was the 604th so far this year on the state’s highways.
