A Drew County man will serve five years in prison after a jury convicted him of possessing firearms as a convicted felon. The verdict came July 16 in Drew County Circuit Court, where jurors found James Randle guilty after a joint investigation by Arkansas Community Correction Probation and Parole officers and the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force. Randle’s sentence takes into account his previous felony convictions.
On the same day, Drug Task Force agents patrolling Chicot County stopped a Cadillac SUV with an expired license plate. The driver, Andra Thompson, had an outstanding arrest warrant. Agents searched the vehicle and reported finding about 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two digital scales, brass knuckles, and a bottle with pills believed to be Xanax.
Deputies booked Thompson into the Chicot County Sheriff’s Department on several charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a weapon, and driving on a suspended license. Drug Task Force agents said their investigation continues.
