On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a residence located at 6001 Osage Road in Jefferson County.

Deputies were attempting to check the well-being of 74-year-old Evelyn Creasy when her live-in boyfriend and caregiver, Michael Morrison, arrived at the residence.

Deputies requested that Morrison allow them to speak with Creasy. Morrison went inside the residence, allegedly to retrieve her, but returned a short time later and told deputies that Creasy must have wandered away while he had been away from the home.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated a search of the area surrounding the residence in an effort to locate Creasy. At the same time, investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division began conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

As the investigation progressed, investigators determined that evidence gathered at the scene was inconsistent with statements provided by Morrison. Through the course of the investigation, Creasy’s body was located.

Morrison was taken into custody and transported to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center, where he was booked on a charge of Abuse of a Corpse.

The conditions at the residence were deplorable which included numerous dogs living in terrible conditions. Pine Bluff Animal Control is assisting with all the animals at the scene.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming as investigators continue to process evidence and work the case.

Creasy’s next of kin has been notified. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office offers its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Evelyn Creasy and asks that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
