A $5,000 cash bond was set for a Pine Bluff man accused of slapping his pregnant girlfriend in the face during an argument.

Pine Bluff District Judge Kim Bridgeforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 27-year-old Kyron Cook with 3rd Degree Domestic Battering and 1st Degree Terroristic Threatening.

Reading from an affidavit by Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Jesse Horton, Prosecuting Attorney Jim Williams says on June 28th, officers were contacted in reference to a domestic battery incident.

The victim, who is pregnant, was at UAMS at the time of contact.

She told officers the father of her child, Kyron Cook, struck her in the side of the face, causing bruising and swelling that officers observed.

She said the two had gone through each other’s phones, and after finding what she observed as evidence Cook had been unfaithful, she confronted him.

He initially slapped her in the face before walking away, but the argument continued and she told officers he struck her a second time, causing her face to swell further.

She was transported to UAMS, where medical staff determined her jaw was not broken before releasing her.

Cook was later contacted by officers regarding screenshots the victim had taken of messages allegedly sent to her from a Facebook Messenger alias threatening her.

He denied sending the messages but acknowledged the Facebook account belonged to him.

He initially told officers he had not hit the victim hard before later changing his account and denying striking her altogether.
