A $10,000 secured bond was set for a Pine Bluff man accused of pointing a gun at someone during an argument.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 50-year-old Robert Shorter with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, the Prosecuting Attorney said on June 28th, Officer Henderson was dispatched to 6th ave regarding an armed disturbance.

Upon arrival, he spoke to the victim who stated a male, later identified as Shorter, pointed a firearm at him.

The victim said Shorter drove to his family’s property, he told Shorter to leave and initially he did; but Shorter returned with a black rifle, pointed it at him and threatened to shoot him.

Moments later, he left the property again.

When officers found Shorter, he was read his Miranda Rights.

He said the victim was upset with him over a woman and had some kind of pipe in his hands, and that’s why he left and returned with a gun.

He claims it was actually a water gun. He was taken to jail.

Shorter is ordered to have no contact with the victim and is scheduled to return to court August 19th.
