England Man Held on $10K Bond After Alleged Assault and Threats Against Girlfriend

A $10,000 secured bond has been set for an England man accused of striking his girlfriend and threatening her life.

On Monday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge 84-year-old George Hankins with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, 2nd degree Terroristic Threatening, and 3rd degree Domestic Battering.

Reading from an Affidavit, the Deputy Prosecutor said on Sunday May 10th, Deputy Devin Bohannon was dispatched onto Hwy 256 and Tucker in reference to an armed disturbance.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who they noticed had red marks.

After the victim gave her statement, Hankins was detained. While he was detained, he spontaneously stated he pulled a knife on her and told her to leave; then when she got out, he went to the bedroom for a gun and fired it at the air.

He then went back to the bedroom and put the gun back.

Officers obtained a search warrant and found shell casings. Hankins is ordered to have no contact with the victim and is to return to court on June 29th.
