The Arkansas State Police has opened a two-month recruitment window for its next trooper training class, inviting qualified applicants to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Applications for Troop School 2027-A are being accepted beginning this week and will remain open through July 1. The 21-week training program is scheduled to begin in January and is open to both certified and non-certified applicants.

Col. Mike Hagar, director of the Arkansas State Police, said the agency is looking for individuals committed to serving with integrity and professionalism.

“This is more than a job — it’s a calling,” Hagar said. “We’re looking for men and women who are ready to step up, serve with honor and take pride in the uniform.”

State officials said new troopers will receive a competitive compensation package, including a starting salary of $67,675, family health insurance coverage, a non-contributory retirement plan and opportunities for overtime. The total compensation package is valued at more than $108,000.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the state is continuing to invest in public safety by strengthening law enforcement ranks.

“Arkansas is investing in the next generation of state troopers because we know that more law enforcement means safer communities,” Sanders said. “There is no better state to serve in law enforcement than Arkansas.”

The Arkansas State Police, which has a 91-year history, is responsible for highway safety, criminal investigations and supporting local agencies across the state.

Officials encourage interested applicants to begin the process early. More information about Troop School 2027-A and application requirements can be found on the Arkansas Department of Public Safety website or by contacting the ASP Recruiting Office.
