A $2,500 bond was set Friday for a Michigan man accused of choking a relative during an altercation.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Eddie Phelps, 53, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said on Thursday at 5:46 p.m., police were sent to a reported armed disturbance.

Phelps was not interviewed because he was taken to the hospital for treatment and because he was intoxicated.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court June 10.
