A Jefferson County man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 2-month-old child, according to authorities.
Timothy Martin, 36, was taken into custody just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to jail records from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
The arrest follows the earlier arrest of the child’s mother, Gabrielle Ayers, 28, who faces the same charges. Ayers made her initial court appearance Monday, April 20, where she was appointed a public defender.
Investigators said the infant was pronounced dead at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Authorities reported the child had multiple injuries, including bruising, swollen eyes and a skull fracture.
According to court records, Pine Bluff police were called to the couple’s home shortly after 7 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2025. Martin told officers he returned home and found the child cold and unresponsive.
In addition to the charges related to the child’s death, Martin is also being held on parole violations tied to prior convictions that include drug and firearms offenses, second-degree domestic battery and fleeing.
Authorities said Martin also has outstanding warrants from Independence County and the Bald Knob Police Department.
