The Pine Bluff City Council is asking the U.S. Department of Transportation for money to continue work on the Grant Street Multi-use Trail Project.
At its meeting Monday, the council approved a resolution signaling a willingness to use the Federal Aid Transportation Alternatives (TAP) funding program.
Council member Bruce Lockett, who sponsored the resolution, talked about the project with Deltaplex News.
The program provides that 80 percent of the funds needed come from the federal government while Pine Bluff will be responsible for the remaining 20 percent. Work must be accomplished and proof of payment must be presented before any monetary reimbursement.
Also Monday, a resolution commending the “Gloves Not Guns” organization for its boxers’ performance in the 2026 National Silver Gloves Tournament in Independence, Missouri.
According to the resolution, two Pine Bluff boxers advanced to the semi-finals and two others won championships.
The resolution also honored “Gloves Not Guns” founder Albert Brewer and coaches Tim Maxwell and Fabian Drayton.
