Wagner General Contractors submitted a bid of $300,000 for the project, which was the lowest of three bids received. That bid includes an alternative of $41,000 that could be removed from the final price by changing the type of concrete used.

Lockett explained what the project will consist of.

The project will also include additional flag poles for the state and city flags, wider sidewalks and landscaping.

Also Monday, an ordinance establishing minimum standards for housing and to protect tenants was read for a second time and will be up for a final vote at the first meeting in May. An ordinance modifying the Police Department’s use of force policy dealing with shooting at or from moving vehicles was read for the first time. Among other things, the proposed ordinance details the circumstances when shooting at a moving vehicle or firing shots from a moving vehicle would be permitted and lists actions that are prohibited.

Resolutions amending previous resolutions to make corrections or remove an item were also approved as was a resolution placing costs of correcting nuisances and placing the costs on tax books as delinquent were also approved.
