At a special called meeting last week, the Rison City Council gave the Rison Fire Department approval to buy a used fire truck.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, the council approved spending up to $80,000 for a truck after Fire Chief Alan Parnell that the department’s secondary truck was close to being inoperable.
Parnell was also authorized to sell the department’s two older fire trucks and the money from those would go back to the fire department.
Fire Department officials reported they had been looking at used trucks through a national website where larger fire departments around the country offer their equipment to smaller departments.
