An England man is dead following a shooting Monday evening, according to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said the England Police Department requested assistance from Lonoke County deputies shortly before 7 p.m. after a shooting was reported in the city of England.
Deputies identified the victim as 49-year-old Jeffery Atkins. Authorities said Atkins was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators have not released information regarding a suspect or a possible motive in the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
