At its first meeting in September, the Pine Bluff City Council deadlocked on a resolution permitting the Mayor to complete an agreement with Nahholtz Environmental Services to work on removing asbestos from the former Southeast Middle School, which the city bought, at 2001 S. Ohio.

At that time, the vote was 4-4 with Council members Lloyd Holcomb Jr., Glen Brown Jr., Bruce Lockett, and Steven Shaner supporting the proposal and Council members Joni Alexander, Glen Brown Sr., Steen  Mays, and Ivan Whitfield voting no.

Fast forward two weeks and on Monday, the same resolution was back on the agenda and this time it passed by a vote of 6-2, with only Alexander and Brown Sr., voting no.

After the meeting, Lockett, who sponsored the legislation was asked about it by Deltaplex News.

A letter that was attached to thy resolution showed that Nabholtz will be paid $68,874 dollars for the work to remove asbestos but that price does not include what might be concealed.

On Wednesday, Alexander was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and talked about her oppositio0n with show host Greg Horne.

Horne then asked what had happened to get Whitfield and Mays to change their votes and he had the following exchange with Alexander.
