Two separate traffic accidents in Arkansas Sunday resulted in the death of two men.

In the first of those, Larry Savell Jr., 46, of West Helena died when he lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Venture he was driving north on Highway 8 in Phillips County at 2:29 p.m. The vehicle overturned and he was pronounce dead at the scene.

About seven hours later, at 9:02 p.m., Frederick Bergey, 33, of Mt. Pine was killed when the 2005 Jeep he was driving left State Highway 227 to the right, then reentered and left the roadway twice more before skidding off the  right side and hitting a tree before turning clockwise.

He was taken to a hospital in Garland County where he later died.

The two deaths bring to 90 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
