A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Jefferson County man accused of being in possession of a stolen side-by-side Friday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jakston Woodard, 19, with theft by receiving.

Reading from an affidavit from Sheriff’s Investigator Sandra Harper, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said at 6 p.m., deputies were sent to Highway 104 and Besley Road in response to a side-by-side that had been reported stolen.

Carson said Woodard has no prior convictions or pending charges and he was told to come back to court Dec. 16. He said he would hire his own attorney.
