The Arkansas General Assembly kicked off its annual fiscal session Monday and one item on the agenda is of particular interest to members of the Watson Chapel School District.

The legislators are being asked to approve funding for a new high school for the district.

Superintendent Andrew Curry appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Friday and said this about the funding.

Curry said the plan is to build a new high school and then move the junior high to the former high school building, after some renovations.

State money is expected to pay 90 percent of the total costs of the project.
