UAPB Football: Mark Evans II Named 2022 Black College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List

PINE BLUFF, AR. – As the season kicks off in 18 days, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff standout offensive tackle, Mark Evans II continues to catch the attention of the NFL Scouts as he was announced today to the 2022 Black College Hall of Fame watch list.

Four finalists will be unveiled after the season. The winner of the Black College Football Player of the Year Award, which will be announced during halftime of the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl, will be presented with the Deacon Jones Trophy. The HBCU Legacy Bowl takes place on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game will be broadcast live on NFL Network.

Evans, who was recently named to the 2022 HERO Sports FCS Preseason All-American Second Team has become known as a hard worker and makes others around him better.

Evans returning as a significant offensive threat on the front line, known as (The U-Haul Moving Crew) was named to the Stats Perform FCS All-America Third Team, BoxToRow HBCU All-America First Team, East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000 list.  He’s also a three-time First Team (SWAC) All-Conference, three-time HBCU Boxtorow All-America, Boxtorow All-America Honoree, HBCU Classic All-American, and Rated top-10 HBCU player by Pro Football Network.

He played a significant role in helping UAPB finish in the top 6th (SWAC) in total yards per game (1,383), ranked in the top in the conference in knockdowns, and gave up only one sack for the Golden Lions.

The Golden Lions are set to kick-off the 2022 season on Saturday, September 3, at 6 p.m. against Lane College at Simmons Bank Field.
