Frisco, TX.- The city of Frisco, Texas, is about to experience some good SWAC baseball this weekend, as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team, takes on Southern U. in a three-game series, March 26-28 at the Lone Star Diamond Classic in the Dr. Pepper Stadium.

The classic matchup will count as a conference home game for the Golden Lions. The first pitch for Friday is set for 6 p.m.

UAPB is coming off a weekend series at home against Prairie View A&M that was postponed after game one due to Covid-19 protocols.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2019 at the SWAC tournament.

The Golden Lions come into the matchup with the Jaguars, with three players ranked in the 10 in the SWAC conference batting average.  Freshman Edwin DeLaCruz ranks third in the conference at the plate, batting .389, followed by senior Nick Kreutzer and junior Kacy Higgins tied for ninth, batting .333.  Kreutzer also tied for fourth in the conference in home runs with three.

Junior Tony Horn Jr. (1-1) leads the Golden Lions on the mound with a 3.65 ERA.

The Jaguars are coming off a 6-4 win over Rice, who is led by Felix Garrett, who’s batting .308 at the plate.
