LORMAN, MS – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team needed only four sets (25-13, 14-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15) to defeat the Alcorn State Lady Braves Sunday on the road at Davey L Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex.

The conference victory puts the Lady Lions on a two-game win streak in SWAC action.

The Lady Lions were led by a double-double from Zykia Jones, who registered 20 kills and 16 digs on the day. Aleria Lane also added seven kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Camille Johnson chipped in for with 18 digs to go with two blocks from Ashanti Butler.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Lions grabbed control of the set-one lead at 4-3 and never looked back to win 25-13. UAPB opened up its biggest lead, 12 points, to finish off the set. UAPB also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | UAPB then fell in set two 25-14, evening the match at a set apiece. The Lady Lions fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | UAPB bounced back after the set-two loss to grab set three and a 2-1 lead in the match. The Lady Lions the set the third set 25-21. UAPB took the lead for good at 12-11 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Lions took over the lead.

SET 4 | UAPB kept the momentum going, ending the match with a 25-15 set-four victory. The Lady Lions grabbed control of the set at 5-4 and never looked back. UAPB ended the stanza on a high note by opening up its biggest lead, 10 points, to finish off the set
