UAPB Volleyball Announces Cornysia Island as Graduate Assistant Coach
Pine Bluff, ARKANSAS – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff head volleyball coach, Gabrielle Floyd, announces Cornysia Island as the Lady Lions Graduate Assistant Coach.
Island heads to UAPB after serving as the Assistant Coach for Texas All-stars for the past club season.
Island, a native of Lancaster, Texas, attended Fisk University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration management. Additionally, she was a player on the university’s volleyball team.
As a student-athlete, Island received accolades as a second-team all-conference player as a freshman, ranked third in leading blocks in her conference.
During Island’s undergraduate summer of 2021, she interned for the Texas Rangers MLB inaugural class of Charlie Pride Fellows working in marketing, player relations, and baseball operations.
Island is working towards her MBA in Hospitality Management Administration in Fall 2023.
