UAPB Track & Field: Golden Lions Have Concluded Another Successful Weekend at the Mississippi St. Alumni Relay

Starkville, MS. – The men’s and women’s track and field team of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff had an impressive weekend at the Mississippi St. Bulldogs Alumni Relay Invitational held at the Mike Sanders Track Complex in Starkville, MS.

Despite the indoor season exceeding expectations, the Golden Lions quickly adapted to the outdoor meet and delivered outstanding performances. Many athletes performed well, especially in the jumping event, which was one of the best in NCAA so far in the outdoor season.

Senior Caleb Snowden, freshman Kinoru Mugethi-Inertia , and junior Terrance Johnson were among the men’s team who shone. Snowden, the defending champion in high jump at the Southwestern Athletics Conference, currently ranks second in the NCAA with a leap of 7’3″. Mugethi and Johnson placed second and third in the 3000 meters with times of 9:06.10 and 9:23.56, respectively. Junior Mohamed Sourmare finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.81.

On the other hand, junior Lyric Love dominated the women’s team in the hammer throw, placing first with a distance throw of (50.57m), which is the best in the Southwestern Athletics Conference. Ashley Robinson finished ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of (58.08). Meanwhile, the Lady Lions relay team placed fourth in the 4×400 meter relay team, comprising of sophomore Cheriece Cope, junior McKenzie Hogue, freshman Abigail Pinnock, and senior Jada Turner with a time of (9:10.63).
