UAPB Track & Field: Caleb Snowden Earns First Team All-America Honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

Caleb All-American

BOSTON MA.– The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff senior high jumper Caleb Snowden continues to add to his impressive record, having recently earned First Team All-America honors for the first time in his career. This achievement came as he placed second in the high jump event at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship held at the New Balance track in Boston, MA.

The top two spots in the event was dominated by athletes representing the natural state, with Snowden becoming the first student-athlete in the program’s history to be named an All-American since being in the NCAA. Furthermore, he became the first-ever high jumper from an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) to place second in the NCAA Indoor Championship in the last ten years.

Snowden, who hails from Lehigh, Florida, made his debut appearance this afternoon at the NCAA Indoor Championship, clearing a personal best of 2.24 meters (7-4 ¼) – thus setting a new school record. However, he is not a stranger to the NCAA Championships, having placed 11th in the high jump event at the NCAA Outdoor Championship back in 2023. This made him the first-ever HBCU student-athlete to win a first-round regionals.

“I feel great after competing against some of the best jumpers and achieving a personal record,” said Snowden. The training from my coaches, the support from my teammates, and participating in some good meets helped me prepare for this big stage where I represented my school. This experience will motivate me as I prepare for the upcoming outdoor season.”
