UAPB Soccer Shutout South Carolina State 5-0 In Non-Conference Finale
GRAMBLING, LA – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff got a massive performance from Yiselle Bernal, who collected a hat trick in a 5-0 shutout victory against South Carolina St. Thursday at GSU Soccer Complex.
UAPB improved to 9-6-1 on the season following the win, claiming their second Division I non-conference victory of the season for the first time since 2010.
How it Happened
UAPB broke the scoreless tie when Bernal recorded her 8th goal of the season in the second minute, assisted by Iyanah Hicks.
The Lady Lions took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Ashley Mcguire — her fourth goal of the season — in the 52nd minute.
UAPB expanded its lead to 3-0 on Madison Hernanadez’s 57th-minute goal, her eighth of the season. Ashley McGuire assisted the goal.
The Lady Lions kept South Carolina State scoreless and took a 4-0 lead with a 71st-minute goal from Bernal, her 9th goal of the season. Janae Porter assisted the goal.
UAPB extended its lead to 5-0 on Bernal’s 10th goal of the season in the 89th minute. The goal ended the 5-0 game.
