The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s soccer team fell to the Grambling State in the quarterfinals of SWAC tournament play with a final score of 2-0 at the PVAMU Soccer Complex Thursday evening.

In the first half, the Lady Lions played great defensively, not allowing Grambling State to score any first half goals. UAPB started the second half with the mindset to contain Grambling State how they did in the first half, but a Grambling State goal at the 53-minute mark took the lead over UAPB 1-0. The Lady Lions tried to fight back in second half, but a Grambling State goal at the 74-minute mark gave Grambling State a 2-0 lead, sealing the win over UAPB.

“We’ll continue to believe in the process and continue to get better as a team”, said UAPB head coach Erik Solberg about what’s to come for UAPB soccer. “The sky is the limit for this group.”

Although the Lady Lions were not able to take home a SWAC tournament win, UAPB took home SWAC honors with freshman Iyanah Hicks being named First Team All-SWAC and junior Cameron Rodriguez was named Second Team All-SWAC.
