UAPB Soccer Schedule

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s soccer team announced their fall 2021 schedule released on Thursday evening. The Lady Lions are scheduled to play 20 overall games, including a full slate of tough non-conference matchups, nine home games, and 11 road games.

The Lady Lions have added depth to this year’s team to go along with all-conference returnee’s freshman Iyanah Hicks and junior Cameron Rodriguez to bring the total to 24 players, with 12 being freshmen.

“I think for us, we are trying to prepare ourselves for conference play in the SWAC, and we are using the non-conference games to play the top talent in the region to get used to playing at home and on the road,” said head coach Erik Solberg.

The season kicks off with a two-game stand at Pumphrey Stadium at home, beginning with the Little Rock Trojans on Thursday, August 19, and Oral Roberts on Sunday, August 22. The Lady Lions will travel to Memphis, TN., on August 26 for a game with the University of Memphis and Central Baptist College on Tuesday, August 31, in Conway, AR.

UAPB will host Arkansas St. Tuesday, September 2, before traveling to Batesville, AR., to compete against Lyons College.

The Lady Lions will hit the road for a two-game road trip to face Central Arkansas on September 10 in Conway, AR., and Jarvis Christian on September 12, in Hawkins, TX.

UAPB will return home against Tulsa on Sunday, September 19, and play their last non-conference matchup on the road against Houston on Friday, September 24.

“With such a short turnaround from last season, we are taking baby steps, and with such a young team we are trusting the process and our goal is to build a program that’s capable of competing on a championship level,” said Coach Solberg.

The Lady Lions will host their first of nine conference games against Southern University at Pumphrey Stadium, Friday, October 1. The team will also host Jackson St. on Sunday, October 3.

UAPB will head to Texas for a two-game road trip beginning in Prairie View, TX, against Prairie View A&M on Friday, October 8, and then head to Houston, TX, to take on Texas Southern on October 10.

The Lady Lions will return home during homecoming week for two consecutive games, kicking off against Alabama A&M on Friday, October 15, and Alabama St. Sunday, October 17.

The team will finish conference play on the road beginning in Alcorn, MS, on Friday, October 22, to take on Alcorn St., and will travel to Itta Bena, MS, to take on Mississippi Valley St. Sunday, October 24.

The Lady Lions will close out the regular season on the road against Grambling State in Grambling, LA., on Friday, October 29, before setting their attention to the SWAC Conference Tournament November 4-7 in Prairie View, TX.
