UAPB Men’s Hoops: Rashad Williams Named to Box to Row HBCU All-American Team

PINE BLUFF, AR. – Graduate Senior Rashad Williams, a Detroit, MI native, has been named to the 2023-24 BOXTOROW HBCU All-American Second Team. This is Williams’ latest accolade as he was recently selected for the HBCU All-Star roster for Team Ben Wallace, which is set to play on April 7 in Phoenix, Arizona, at the NCAA Final Four. Moreover, Williams was named Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-SWAC, marking the second time in the last three years that Coach Bozeman had a student-athlete selected for the newcomer award.

Williams made a name for himself in the SWAC Conference after transferring from Saint Louis and returning to the basketball court. He had a great start in the 2023-24 season, scoring 17 or more points in nine out of the first 15 games, and played a significant role in the offensive success of the Golden Lions. UAPB ranks 39th in the NCAA for scoring, with an average of 80.1 points per game. Additionally, the Golden Lions as a team ranks fifth in the nation for three-pointers per game (10.9), 17th in the NCAA for three-point percentage (37.53%), and 29th in the NCAA in free-throws percentage (76.25%). Williams ranks 2nd in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.5), 11th in three-points made (95), and 32nd in 3-pointers FG percentage (40.25%).

During conference play, Williams has been impressive, ranking 4th in scoring per game, averaging 17.6 points. He also tops the charts in 3-PT field goal percentage, 3-PT Field goal per game (3.5), and ranks 6th in free-throw percentage (.820), 6th in total assist (85), and 8th in assist/turnover ratio (1.1). Williams had an outstanding game against Alabama St., scoring a career-high 33 points and hitting seven three-pointers.
