UAPB Men’s Hoops: Golden Lions Takes Down Mississippi Valley State 83-58

ITTA BENA, MS — The Golden Lions led by a 63.6 percent shooting performance from three-point range, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team knocked off the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 83-58 on the road Saturday.

The Golden Lions had four players score in double figures, led by Doctor Bradley, who had 26 points, six rebounds and two steals. Klemen Vuga tacked on a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Quentin Bolton Jr. helped out with 17 points off the bench.

UAPB out-rebounded Mississippi Valley State 36-30 in Saturday’s game, paced by Vuga’s 10 boards.

UAPB’s defense held Mississippi Valley State to only 38.2 percent shooting from the field.

How It Happened

UAPB started out the scoring by going on a 14-0 run, culminating in a bucket from Vuga, to take an early lead with 14:53 left in the first half. The Golden Lions then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 39-29 advantage. UAPB did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 39 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, UAPB kept widening that lead, expanding it to 76-58 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Kyle Brown’s three, to grow the lead to 83-58 with 15 seconds to go in the contest, The Golden Lions held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 83-58 win. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 44 points in the lane.
