BATON ROUGE, LA —The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team kept Southern to just 10.5 percent from deep in a 2-for-19 shooting performance, but fell 80-66 to the Jaguars on the road Saturday.

The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Kylen Milton, who had 20 points and seven rebounds. Rashad Williams added 15 points off of the bench and Lonnell Martin Jr. chipped in as well with 11 points.

Ismeal Plet pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead the UAPB offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 16 second chance points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 36-26, UAPB went on a 7-0 run with 2:03 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 36-33, a score that would hold until halftime.

Southern kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 80-57 advantage before UAPB went on a 9-0 run to shrink the deficit to 80-66 with six seconds to go in the contest, The Golden Lions were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 80-66. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 33 points in the lane.
