UAPB Men Hoops: Williams and Plet Have Double-Doubles in UAPB’s 85-60 Victory Against Arkansas Baptist College

PINE BLUFF, AR – Rashad Williams and Ismael Plet both recorded double-doubles to help lead the UAPB men’s basketball team past Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes 85-60 at home Monday at the H.O. Clemmons Arena at the third annual Bozeman’s Father and Son Classic. This is the third consecutive win for Solomon Bozeman over his father since being the head coach at UAPB.

The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Kylen Milton, who had 25 points, six rebounds and three steals. Williams added a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists and Plet chipped in as well with a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Plet pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the UAPB offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into eight second chance points.

The Golden Lions defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Monday’s game, forcing 14 turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 26 points on the other end of the floor. Milton’s three steals led the way individually for the Golden Lions.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 25-20 advantage, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 6:53 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Milton, to increase its lead to 31-20. The Golden Lions then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 36-27 advantage. UAPB did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 36 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, UAPB kept widening that lead, expanding it to 63-50 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Plet’s layup, to grow the lead to 72-50 with 7:19 to go in the contest. The Golden Lions kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 85-60 win. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 49 points in the lane.
