UAPB Men Hoops: Big Game From Milton and French Not Enough in UAPB’s in Season Opener Road Loss to Missouri
COLUMBIA, MO —Kylen Milton scored 34 points and Joe French put 30, but the UAPB men’s basketball team fell to the Missouri Tigers 101-79 on the road Monday.
Milton and French’s stellar scoring performances led the Golden Lions (0-1) in the contest. Milton tacked on five rebounds and French added six rebounds and four steals. Lonnell Martin also helped out with two steals.
The UAPB offense was very productive from three point land, pouring in eight threes on 29 attempts. French was the most prolific shooter for the Golden Lions, draining four treys in the contest.
The UAPB defense caused its share of mistakes in Monday’s game, forcing 13 Missouri turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 14 points on the other end of the floor. French’s four steals led the way individually for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
UAPB hot off to a slow start, falling behind 57-40 heading into halftime.
Missouri kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 86-56 advantage before UAPB went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Milton’s three, to shrink the deficit to 86-64 with 5:20 to go in the contest. The Golden Lions were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 101-79. UAPB capitalized on nine Missouri turnovers in the period, collecting 13 points off those turnovers.
