UAPB Men Hoops Announces Full Schedule for 2022-2023

MENS BB 2022 SCHEDULE RELEASE

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men’s Basketball team announced the full schedule for the 2022-2023 campaign.

A loaded, yet exciting non-conference slate for UAPB features four home games, the most since 2016.

The Golden Lions will open their upcoming season under second-year head coach Solomon Bozeman at TCU on Monday, Nov. 7.

A couple of days later, UAPB will host Champion Christian College for their home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Following that will be a five-game road stretch with the Golden Lions facing Oklahoma (Nov. 11), Mississippi State (Nov. 13), Kent State (Nov. 16), Cleveland State (Nov. 18), and Nebraska (Nov. 20).

UAPB will return home to play Crowley’s Ridge on Tuesday, Nov. 22. UAPB will then head to Air Force on Nov. 30 before returning home to face Arkansas Baptist on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The Golden Lions will end their non-conference road contests at Texas (Dec. 10) and Minnesota (Dec. 14) before closing out the year at home against Ecclesia College on Saturday, Dec. 17.

“I think we have a strong non-conference schedule that’ll be very competitive and get us better going into conference,” said Bozeman about the non-conference schedule. “I’m excited about our home games during the preseason. We haven’t had as many home games during non-conference in a while, so it’s good to see the fans and the community more than what we’d see during conference play. Arkansas Baptist will be back to play us at home this season, with my dad as the head coach. It should be a fun and competitive matchup going up against the man who prepped me as a coach and a player.”

Heading into 2023, UAPB begins conference play on the road at Alabama A&M (Jan. 2) and Alabama State (Jan. 4) before returning home to face Texas Southern (Jan. 7) and Prairie View (Jan. 9).

The Golden Lions will then hit the east coast for a road test against Florida A&M (Jan. 14) and Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 16).

A three-game home stand features Southern (Jan. 21), Grambling (Jan. 23), and Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 28) all entering the Lion’s Den before UAPB closes the first half of conference play on the road against Alcorn State (Feb. 4) and Jackson State (Feb. 6).

To start the second half of conference play, the Golden Lions welcome Alabama State (Feb. 11) and Alabama A&M (Feb. 13) before hitting the road for three games against Prairie View (Feb. 18), Texas Southern (Feb. 20), and Mississippi Valley State (Feb. 25).

Jackson State (Feb. 2) and Alcorn State (Feb. 4) come into town to close out the regular season for UAPB.

“Our main focus during conference play is consistency,” Bozeman remarked on SWAC play. “We have a lot of talent on this team starting with our veteran guys, down to our freshman class. Coming out of a tough non-conference schedule, we want our guys to have the mindset of ‘getting better every day’ while continuing to grow and gel together as a team, game by game.”

The Southwestern Athletic Conference is scheduled for March 8-11 in Birmingham, Alabama.
