The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team took a 7-4 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 15-7 to the Prairie View A&M Panthers Saturday at Maestri Field.

Senior Trenton Ferguson (0-1) took the loss on the mound for UAPB (0-2, ).

In the batter’s box, the Golden Lions were led by junior Andre Greene, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a walk and two RBIs. Sophomore Aidan Martinez furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Freshman Sophomore Jackson also helped out for UAPB, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding a walk and two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the second inning. Sophomore Dylan Jutze came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.

The Panthers expanded their lead to 3-1 before the Golden Lions offense got back to work, taking the lead in the third. The Golden Lions offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run single off the bat of Jackson, which brought the score to 5-3 in favor of the Golden Lions.

UAPB held Prairie View A&M scoreless before building their lead to 7-3 in the fifth inning. The Golden Lions added two runs when a single from Greene brought home Martinez and Jackson. The Golden Lions were unable to hold the lead, as Prairie View A&M scored 12 times over the remaining four innings to grab the 15-7 win.
